How our Prescription Delivery Service Works

Repeat Prescription Delivery Service

How our repeat prescription delivery service works

Our FREE local NHS prescription delivery service is open to all patients and we can deliver to your home or work address.

Our service is aimed at anyone who struggles to make it to our pharmacy to collect their prescriptions forany reasone.g. work pattern, transport issues, house-bound, convenience etc.

Our NHS prescription delivery service is free for all patients, whatever your circumstances

How do I register?

To use this service, simply start by nominating our pharmacy to receive your repeat prescriptions.

This can be done in person, over the phone by calling the number below

What information do I need to register?

Regardless of how you register we will need:

  • Your name
  • Your address
  • The name of your GP surgery
  • Which repeat prescriptions medicines you are using.

The registration process is extremely simple. For existing customers we will have most of this information already and the process will be even quicker.

Once we have your prescription and your patient details we can get ready to send out your medications when you need them. Our driver will deliver to your home address unless you ask for delivery to an alternative address e.g. work, a relative/neighbour.

How do I order my prescription?

Once registered you can place an order for any items on your “repeat list” provided by your GP. The order can be placed:

  • In person (by dropping off your repeat slip with requested items ticked)
  • Via your GP practice’s online services portal

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does delivery take?

It is best to order your prescriptions no later than 5 working days before you are due to run out just to be on the safe side.

It usually takes 2-3 working days for GP practices to process repeat prescription requests, and we need 24 hours to assemble and check your order.

Do I need to sign for my prescription?

To receive your medication it needs to be signed for by you or a nominated person over 16 years of age.

If this isn’t possible, in exceptional circumstances we can post your medication through your letterbox if appropriate. For safety reasons, this can only be done with your prior written consent.

What if I forget to order my prescription before I run out of medication?

Of course, we know it can be tricky to keep track of your medicines and everyone gets ‘caught out’ now and again.

We will always do what we can to help if you are running out of medicine unexpectedly. You should never feel you just have to ‘go without’ or cannot ask for help so please speak to our pharmacist.

How much does the delivery service cost?

The pharmacy repeat prescription delivery service is completely free.

Unlike some other pharmacies we DO NOT restrict our service to house-bound patients only and we DO NOT charge you an administrative fee for delivery.

You will still have to pay for your prescription charges as usual if you are not exempt. Currently, each NHS item on a prescription is priced at £8.80.

If you are regularly picking up prescriptions (i.e. collecting two or more prescription items per month) you could save money by applying for aprescription prepayment certificate (PPC).

How do I know if I am eligible for free prescriptions?

For certain people, prescriptions in England are completely free. To find out if you may be eligible for free prescriptions, consultthis guide.

If you are exempt from paying for prescriptions, or you have a PPC, you will have to supply us with evidence of this as part of the sign-up process (unless you are automatically exempt by virtue of your age being 60 years old).
